How to say different hairstyles in Mandarin

Recently I’m under serious pressure to choose a hair style, the decision to be made is to keep my hair growing or to cut shorter. So today let’s take a look at different hairstyles in Chinese.

1.wave hair 卷发(juǎn fà)

Our new teacher is a young lady with black wave hair.

我们的新老师是一位留着黑卷发的女士(wǒ men de xīn lǎo shī shì yī wèi liú zhe hēi juǎn fà de nǚ shì)

2.ponytail 马尾辫(mǎ wěi biàn)

He sits besides a girl with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail.

他坐在一位有棕色马尾辫的女孩旁边(tā zuò zài yī wèi yǒu zōng sè mǎ wěi biàn de nǚ hái páng biān)

3.pixie cut 精灵短发(jīng líng duǎn fà)

Pixie cut is the most popuar hairstyle this year.

精灵短发是今年最流行的发型(jīng líng duǎn fà shì jīn nián zuì liú xiíng de fà xíng)

Here are some common men’s hairstyles.

1.slicked-back 大背头(dà bèi tóu)

Beckham’s slicked-back looks great.

贝克汉姆的大背头太帅了(bèi kè hàn mǔ de dà bèi tóu tài shuài le)

2.buzz cut 圆寸(yuán cùn)

Summer is approaching, it is time to go for a buzz cut.

夏天要来了,是时候去剪个圆寸了(xià tiān yào lái le ,shì shí hòu qù jiǎn gè yuán cùn le)

3.crew cut平头(píng tóu)

He told the barber that he wanted a crew cut.

他告诉理发师他想要剪个平头。(tā gào sù lǐ fà shī tā xiǎng yào jiǎn gè píng tóu)

So these are some common hairstyles, sometimes changing a hairstyle gives you a total new look and a new mood. Don’t be afraid of trying new things!
