IB Chinese Teacher Winni Zhang
Hi everyone, I'm Winni, a full-time Chinese teacher at New Concept Mandarin. I hold a bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia and a master's degree from the University of Hong Kong. With years of experience teaching Chinese language and literature, I have spent the last three years focusing on IB, IGCSE, and AP Chinese courses.
In my view, succeeding in IB Chinese requires not only content knowledge but also effective learning strategies. In my classroom, we will closely read texts, explore the author's rhetorical choices and narrative strategies, and analyze the structure and intention behind the language. I place special emphasis on helping students shift from subjective impressions to logical reasoning, ensuring every argument is supported by textual evidence.
My three years of IB teaching experience have given me a solid understanding of the assessment system and how to provide effective guidance in oral commentaries and essay writing. My goal is not to have you repeat existing opinions, but to help you develop your own analytical approach and expressive style.
Beyond that, I enjoy exploring with my students other narrative forms related to IB Chinese, such as films, plays, and more — all to help improve your overall Chinese proficiency and exam performance.
