IB Chinese Teacher Tina Gan
Hi everyone, I'm Tina (Gan Xiaoting), a full-time IB and IGCSE Chinese teacher at New Concept Mandarin. I hold a bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, and earned my master's degree in Teaching Chinese as an International Language from The Education University of Hong Kong. During my Master's studies, I built up a solid foundation in IB Chinese teaching theories and practice. My academic training has given me a solid foundation in Chinese literature and language teaching methods, helping me better understand the logic behind international Chinese curricula.
Before joining New Concept Mandarin, I gained extensive teaching experience across international and local school settings. I worked as a Chinese Teacher at Yew Chung International School of Shanghai, and also taught Chinese language and literature at Guangzhou Experimental School. These experiences have convinced me that every student has unlimited potential — the key lies in the teacher's ability to discover and nurture it. I tailor my teaching plans to each student's needs, using a structured and student-centred approach that combines engaging lesson design with clear learning objectives. My classroom is not about one-way knowledge delivery, but an engaging, student-centered approach that uses culture to ignite your inner motivation. I can teach a variety of Chinese programs, including IB, IGCSE, and AP Chinese, and I am experienced in helping students from diverse cultural backgrounds, including non-native speakers.
My goal is not only to help you break through academic bottlenecks and improve exam scores, but also to elevate your overall Chinese literary competence.
Learning IB Chinese is both an academic challenge and an intellectual journey. I hope to be your most reliable partner — from choosing the right words to engaging in deep literary thinking. Let's tackle the difficulties together, and explore the vast and wonderful world of Chinese language and culture.
