Welcome to Guangzhou Mandarin Training Center! My name is Esther, Program Manager of New Concept Mandarin Guangzhou. I was trained as a professional teacher in Tianjin Normal University. I am good at teaching Chinese both in class and over radio as my major in university is language teaching as well as broadcasting.

People in Guanzhou speak Cantonese . Then why should you study Chinese in Guangzhou? Mandarin is the official language in China. It is called Putonghua in China. Putong means common and hua means speech. Mandarin is a compulsory subject in all schools in Guangzhou so you can easily communicate with people in Mandarin here.

You may find many Mandarin schools in Guangzhou. Then why should you take Mandarin class in New Concept Mandarin? Here are my 3 reasons.

  1. We have a team of professionally trained Mandarin teachers in our Guangzhou Mandarin training center. They are full-time Putonghua teachers, qualified Mandarin trainers and passionate Chinese teachers.
  2. We have a unique and effective Mandarin teaching methodology based on 20 years university research in China and Australia. Your Mandarin study will be also enhanced with our online Mandarin courses, and DVD Mandarin tools, and Mandarin iPhone Apps.
  3. We design and publish our own Chinese textbooks. You will not waste your time on boring sound drills and useless words. With our customized courses you will quickly develop practical Mandarin Chinese skills. If you are a total Mandarin beginner we promise that you will be able to survive in China without relying on interpreters after you only complete one course (32 hours) with us.

To find out more about what we can offer you please feel free to contact me. I can meet you in person either in our training center or in your location. We can give you a free Mandarin demo lesson, free Mandarin learning style analysis, and a free Mandarin assessment.

Partial List of our Full Time Trainers:

Maggie Yang - Guangzhou Center's Teacher

Nihao, wo shi Maggie. I come from Lanzhou in Gansu province where I completed a Bachelor degree in English Language and Literature at Lanzhou Jiaotong University. During University I began to tutor English part-time and gained a passion for teaching as well as some understanding of language learning. Joining NCM gave me the opportunity to further my studies in this field through our train the trainer programs. I believe helping my students apply what they learn in the classroom is the toughest but most important challenge as a teacher. The successful results of my students communicating with local people is my biggest achievement. In my spare time I enjoy blogging about language learning, watching movies and listening to music.

Raina Chen - Guangzhou Center's Teacher

Hi, I'm Raina. I got my bachelor's degree from South & Central University for Nationalities in Wuhan, and I majored in Tourism Management, which has provided me a lot of opportunities to communicate with people from all over the world. I'm really interested in cross-cultural communication and international relationship, and I feel so lucky to join NCM., where I got more opportunities, more professional trainings, and the precious chance to fulfill my dream of being a mandarin language teacher. In our centre, there are not only beginner students, but also advanced, business and professional Chinese learning. In our class, I enjoy the teaching process, especially when our students can get the progress in Mandarin learning or master the Chinese study skills. Besides teaching, I also love travelling, singing, and jogging. I’m looking forward to your participation to create our amazing Mandarin learning environment!

Qing He - Guangzhou Center's Teacher

Nǐ hǎo, I am Qing. I was born and raised in Guangdong. Two years ago I got my bachelor's degree in Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and attended the training to get my teaching certificate while working as an English interpretor. My previous working experience has helped me gain basic teaching and communication skills. After joining NCM, I have found more passion in teaching Westerners Chinese. I make my class fun to my students and encourage them to apply Mandarin to their daily life. I really enjoy the interaction in class and have the patience to get my students interested in Mandarin learning. Besides, I am also a big movie fan and like music, cooking and travelling. I am expecting more of you to come to learn Mandarin and get to know the cultural beauty of China.

Suki Xu - Guangzhou Center's Teacher

Hi, I’m Suki. My hometown is Guangdong province MeiZhou city, but I have lived in Guangzhou for fourteen years. I received my Bachelor degree in English from GuangDong Medical College. When I was studying in University I had a part-time job as an English teacher. I found that I enjoy teaching very much, especially languages. Joining NCM makes me continue my favorite job—teaching, and the NCM methodology and in-house train-the trainer programs has taught me to help each student advance at their own pace and become a better learner. I concentrate on making the students confident to speak Mandarin in their daily life, through teaching them practical language they can immediately use and making the learning process both relevant and fun. So if you want to learn Mandarin, just join us and you’ll be a happy Mandarin learner.

  • As my course ended yesterday with the last session I would like to take the opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude.
Serena is a very professional, motivated, encouraging and disciplined teacher.
She applied the New Concept system very well and I benefitted a lot from the lessons.
I feel well equipped with the survivor knowledge!
All the best for you and the New Concept Team.

  • I'm very happy with the 40-hour course I just finished. Qing and Suki are both very dedicated, energetic teachers. I noticed a lot of improvement in my ability to communicate and understand more of what I was hearing outside of class (in the real world where the conversations are a little tougher to follow!) They also both did a nice job of developing extra material aimed at my personal interests. As you know this was my second short-term intensive course at New Concept, and I really hope to come back and do a third one.

  • " I had previously studied Mandarin in France for a few years while working and I decided to continue on the same pace here in Guangzhou, i.e. 3 hours a week, but NCM's material is a lot more practical and fun. Survival 2 level gives a lot of satisfaction, making you able to communicate and improve your understanding skills in every day life in China, same with survival 3. I am now studying social 1 and though it required a lot of effort at the beginning, it is very interesting to start speaking about more abstract subjects and even basic aspects of Chinese manners and culture. NCM's method does meet the needs of expats in China.

My teacher is great as she manages to get me through the lessons going slower or quicker according to my needs. Besides, she is flexible and understanding when my work does not allow enough time to study at home or requires a change of schedule. I am very happy with these classes and do recommend them to anyone who wishes to make significant progress in communicating in Mandarin. Of course studying Mandarin can be a life long achievement, but NCM definitaly makes it within reach for those who do not have time. So it's never too late. "

-- Laurence Monmayrant, Vice Consul General of France
